What is a joining safari?
A joining safari is a scheduled departure where you share a vehicle with other travellers. The operator is already running the trip, so you pay less than a private safari. Joining safaris are also called shared safaris or group safaris.
How it works
- 1. Find a date that fits. Every departure on DalaSafari is a joining safari a licensed Tanzanian operator is already running, with the seats still open shown on the card.
- 2. Request your seats. Tell the operator how many seats you need. There are no traveller details to fill in beyond your contact.
- 3. The operator confirms. They hold your seats and arrange the booking and payment with you directly.
Joining safari vs private safari
- Joining safari
- Fixed dates set by the operator. Shared vehicle, usually 6 or 7 seats. Cost split between everyone on board, so the price per person is lower. You travel with other people.
- Private safari
- Your own dates and your own vehicle. Full cost of the vehicle, guide and fuel is yours. DalaSafari does not list private safaris.
What to expect
- A shared 4x4 with a pop-up roof, a driver-guide, and travellers from other groups.
- The route, dates, accommodation and inclusions are fixed by the operator.
- Park fees, accommodation and meals are usually included; flights, visas, tips and drinks usually are not. Each departure page lists exactly what is included.
- Pickups are normally from Arusha, Moshi or Kilimanjaro Airport.
- You settle payment with the operator, not with DalaSafari.
